About Me.
My name is Rui Gonçalves. I was born in Portugal in 1989 and now live in Taunton, Somerset.
I started riding at age 14, and two wheels have been a part of my life ever since.
In 2021, I founded RGM Garage Ltd, which has grown beyond every expectation. Over the past few years, I’ve met countless riders through the shop, and in 2024, I made the leap into road racing myself. After many years on public roads, I wanted to explore my true potential in the safest environment possible: the track.
Now, I’m on a journey to push limits, inspire others to ride safely, and share the thrill of racing — all while building connections with fellow riders, fans, and sponsors along the way.
I don't just ride the bike; I built, maintain and tune my bikes. My racing journey is fuelled by the same precision and technical standards I provide to every customer at RGM Garage.

1st track day
Donington Park
My very first track day, on my road-going bike — and wow, what a rush! From the moment I hit the circuit, the adrenaline was unreal. That day didn’t just excite me… it completely hooked me on racing.
2024
ACU license
Pembrey
After passing my Basic Rider Assessment, I officially stepped into the world of club racing with NGRRC. It felt like the start of something new and exciting — moving from enjoying track days to truly competing.
March 2025
1st official test day
Castle Combe
During a full day of testing, I knocked 10 seconds off my lap time, finishing with a personal best of 1:27. It was amazing to see steady improvement across the day — it really showed how much I was learning and adapting. I left confident that with more structured testing, there were even more seconds waiting to be found.
June 2025
1st official race meeting
Anglesey
Three rounds in tricky weather, with fog constantly misting my visor — not easy, but what a challenge! I finished 9th, 5th, and 6th, staying focused and consistent. And I have to say, the views along the coast made all the effort worth it.
July 2025
Brands hstch
My first taste of racing in the rain. After a highside in qualifying, I had to regroup mentally, but I bounced back to finish 6th, 5th, and 5th. I also tried a new class, Newcomers Open, to get extra seat time — and it paid off with a 7th-place finish. It was a weekend full of lessons and laughs!
Sept 2025
Oulton park
A one-day event and my first time on this circuit — I went in completely blind. Despite the limited track time, I adapted quickly and finished both races in 7th. It was a fun, challenging day that reminded me how quickly you can grow when you just dive in.
Oct 2025
Castle Combe
Back to my “home track” to improve lap times and test a new bike. Saturday started on the wrong foot with a crash in practice, and Race 1 ended in a DNF — but I didn’t let it get me down. Races 2 and 3 went much better, finishing 8th and 9th, and I hit a new personal best of 1:21 — 6 seconds faster than my last visit! In the Newcomers class, I finished 9th, gaining extra experience and ending the season on a high note.
The Results from 2025 season
Following a competitive 2025 season, I am proud to have secured 10th place overall in the NG Road Racing Powerbike Cup. Out of a large and talented field, I earned a total of 93 championship points, demonstrating consistent performance and growth across the season’s various rounds.
